Document Readability

  1. Choose a web page (article) that you feel demonstrates the principles of readability. You may use a web page from the website you analyzed last week or select one from a different site. Be sure to include a link to the specific web page you are referencing.
  2. Write an analysis that’s at least 150 words in length. Consider the following, and be sure to provide specific examples:
    • What is the web page about?
    • Have headings been used to break up and preview the content? What type of heading is used (question, main idea, or keyword)?
    • Are lists used to draw attention to or summarize information? What kind(s) of information?
    • Has parallelism been employed?
    • How has the information been arranged? What signposts (e.g., topic statements, forecasting statements, etc.) are used to convey this organization?
    • Is the direct/deductive (generalizations first) or indirect/inductive (details first) structure used?
    • Can improvements be made in any of the above areas?
