Responses to the survey described above were imported to SPSS and the data obtained using the measures described above was used to test the two main hypotheses of the
study. The main two descriptive statistics for the quantitative questions appear in the tables below. First a T – independent test was done and then a univariate ANOVA
to confirm the results.
There were no important differences in the number of responses obtained across both countries for the three domains that were measured.

Quantitative analysis T independent tests concluded that UK had higher perceptions towards crime assessment and shame and crime seriousness than Oman. Therefore
rejecting the Null hypothesis. While Crime punishment domains accepts the Null hypothesis that there is no difference between crime punishment perceptions between the
two countries. Also , a high significant difference was found in regards gender in crime assessment and shame domain the results were also confirmed using the
Univariate Anova.
Thematic analysis showed that participants from both the UK and Oman more frequently adopted rehabilitative approaches to crime and more social reasons as causes for
crime.
