This is a problem-based case study. This means that you must present the case objectively in a manner that highlights the ethical and/or human rights issues, provide several solutions drawn from the ethical frameworks applied in the analysis and then identify the best solution, making an argument that supports your choice. Unlike a regular research essay, the argument falls at the end of the piece – that is, you will weigh up the different options presented by each ethical framework and put forth a ‘recommendation’ for the most convincing ethical response to the issue based on the evidence and analysis presented in the body of the essay.
The criteria most heavily weighted for this task are the research and objectivity in presenting the case initially and your ability to apply ethical frameworks to present more than one course of action.
