Abnormal Psychology Paper
Choose a movie from the following list:
– Beautiful Mind: Schizophrenia

– Silence of the Lambs: Antisocial Personality Disorder
– American Sniper: PTSD
– The Kings Speech: Social Anxiety Disorder
– Lincoln: Depression
– Birdman:Dissociative Persnality Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)
– Zoolander: Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Pick a movie that portrays a character or characters who is/are experiencing a psychological disorder/mental illness. Watch the movie and then please do the following:
1. Write a very brief summary of the movie. You do not need to tell every detal, just a brief paragraph on the general storyline. Give some clear evidence that you watched it.
2. Write a description of the psychological disorder. Not only should you give the name of the disorder(s) the person has, but outline the exact criteria from DSM-V uses to diagnose this disorder. List the DSM criteria for the disorder. Also, explain any of the criteria that the character does not fit. Go through the symptoms and analyze the behavior in light of it. Note: the character may not meet all the criteria for a particular disorder, or they might have characteristics of a couple disorders. If they are missing some of the criteria, go ahead and state that.
3. Give specific examples of behaviors portrayed by the character that correspond with the diagnosis criteria.
4. Write a critical analysis of how accurate or inaccurate you found the portrayal of the disorder/therapy. Show evidence of your knowledge of the psychological disorder/ mental illness.
Guidlines:
– Paper should be 4 pages in length, typed, and double spaced. Please format paper as a MS Word document.
– Include a works cited page.
– Use APA or MLA documentation.
