Mike Rose argues that throughout Western history the assumption has been that “Intelligence is closely associated with formal education–the type of schooling a person has, how much and how long–and most people seem to move comfortably from that to a belief that work requiring less schooling requires less intelligence.” What experiences have you had that back up or refute Rose’s argument that working class intelligence is just as important and valid as “formal education”? Explain how/why your experiences back up your claim, and use at least one quote from the text to support your claim.
