Order Description
Present, explain, and defend some theory from any of the readings listed on the syllabus (including future readings), and use that theory to explain some aspect of a particular artwork or piece of art criticism of your choice.
Your thesis and main argument in the essay should not be directed toward advancing a certain interpretation or claiming that the work is good or bad. Rather, you should apply a philosophical theory (from the readings) to an artwork or piece of art criticism in a way that helps us to more deeply understand what it is or how it works.
