In this research project, investigate an emerging technology and evaluate its potential for industry applications. An emerging technology is one that is still evolving and not yet fully exploited. The outcome of this project should be convincing white paper based upon clear set of arguments and evidence reasoned from literature. Each student must submit a topic proposal for approval. You have significant flexibility to shape the overall scope, style, and direction for the paper; however, at minimum the following requirements must be addressed:
1. Technology introduction (i.e. thesis, arguments to be set forth in the paper) 2. Literature review (e.g. related work, origins, and/or fields that inform the technology)
3. Technical details (e.g. protocols, standards, algorithms, methodology)
4. Near-term and long term applications, impacts, and risks
5. Implications for society and future research
6. Suggested course of action (e.g. what should be done and more importantly, why)
7. Single-spaced, 8 page limit (excluding references and table of contents). Minimum 10 external references. Times New Roman or Arial font. One-inch margins. Professional format: page numbers, table of contents, section titles with numbering, figure and/or table captions with numbering. Limit the use of graphics unless they are fully explained and directly contribute to the content of the paper. No binders, etc. In-text citations must be included in the paper for all work that is not your own (e.g. Author, Year) and a detailed annotated bibliography for all sources.
