Points: 25
Your employer is considering the implementation of the balanced scorecard approach for performance measurement. Assume that your employer has asked you to make a preliminary survey of balanced scorecard literature to assess the advantages/disadvantages of this performance analysis method.
Many business consultants offer consulting services to assist companies in developing and implementing a balanced scorecard performance management system. Find some of their web sites. See how they view the balanced scorecard, examine the services offered, and consider the expected benefits. See if they offer examples of successful implementations.
Review journal articles regarding the nature of the balanced scorecard approach, issues to be resolved in implementation of this approach, and expected benefits. Review the balanced scorecard discussion in Module 23, pages 23-17 through 23-20. Several articles of interest may be found under CLASS HANDOUTS, RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS, BALANCED SCORECARD RESEARCH PAPER.
