Description
Introductory paragraph – need to name poet and poem and summarize the poem’s central purpose in topic sentence. THESIS statement should be basked on what it is you will be saying about the poem. Please remember, your THESIS is your conclusion about what the poem is saying.
Body paragraphs – Explain the SENSE of the poem, and identify how structure and figures of speech contribute to the poem’s meaning. You can cite particular images or choices of diction.
Finally, you will identify the SOUND Effects the poet uses – the meter, the rhyme, the particular word sound, alliteration, onomatopoeia – that contribute to the overall effect of the poem.
P.S : clear Thesis statement is needed at the end of introductory paragraph. Also, Topic sentences are needed in the beginning of any body paragraphs.
