Analyze the similarities and differences

1. Lucretia and Jesus, like Antigone (and Socrates) before them, become sacrificial victims by holding to a set of values in opposition to those in power or by refusing to seek an offered escape from justice. Analyze the similarities and differences in their situations as described in the three specific texts by Sophocles, Livy and “Mark.” To what degree is our view of them as victims colored by their desire for death, if that seems partly to motivate them?

2. Not only are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all monotheistic religions, but because of their influences on each other, they can be said–theoretically at least–to have the same god (they are often called the three Abrahamic faiths). What are some similarities and differences in the ways these three religious traditions conceive of or perceive that god?Cite specific evidence, considering our readings from the primary sacred texts of the three traditions, as well as the texts we read by early followers and participants, like Paul, Augustine, Tertullian, and Ibn Ishaq.
