Choose one of the following samples (from McWhorter, 565). Write a working thesis and four or more research questions for the sample you chose. Post your thesis and research questions for others to respond to.
The rise of celebrity worship in the United States
Ways that elderly family members affect family life

Then analyze at least two other students’ working theses and research questions for the following characteristics:
Is there a clear thesis with a topic and an angle, or an issue and a claim?
Is the angle usable for a 5-page essay, or is it too broad or too narrow?
Do the research questions relate to the thesis angle?
What types of sources do the research questions suggest?
