ARC 355: Term Project
Contents
The ARC355 PM Term Project includes the following list of Assignments in Part 1 and Part 2. Templates including the Headings for the written descriptions in each

Assignment will be provided for each of the following deliverables:
1. BUSINESS CASE (BC)
Prepare a Business Case using the BC template and complete the heading sections to describe and justify the need for your group proposed construction project.
2. PROJECT CHARTER (PC)
Prepare a Project Charter using the PC template and complete the heading sections that provide a summary of the objectives and planned approach for the construction

project with sign-off section for management / stakeholder signatures.
3. PROJECT PLANNING / EXECUTION (PPE)
Prepare a list of project deliverables that clearly outlines scope of work and project construction execution (based on the CCDC contract) chosen. Complete the

template headings to create your group Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to describe all of the work deliverable requirements.
4. PROJECT SCHEDULE (PS)
Prepare a timeline summary of the construction project schedule including all six of the Project Management Phases. List the project activities, milestones and

resources to determine the project Critical Path (CP). Provide suggestions for a timely completion and include a graphic example of your project CP FLOW CHART. (Refer

to example)
5. MONITORING / CONTROLLING PROCESSES (MCP) Every construction project is a pile of information and data that somehow has to be organized, stored and distributed

correctly and on time to the people who need them on or off site. Describe and explain the group financial, administrative and quality control procedures and processes

for the construction project. This will include documentation required in the six phases of PM including closeout. Complete the template headings provided and include

examples of the requirement forms used.
6. PROJECT PRESENTATION (PP)
Prepare a group PP to recap all the group assignments completed as noted above in 1 to 5 and add the EXECUTIVE SUMMARY and PROJECT CLOSEOUT document descriptions. Use

the headings on the template example provided.

The steps in creating your Group TP Project Management (PM) Plan
As outlined in the TERM PROJECT INFORMATION OUTLINE, each group acts as the Project Manager hired by the Client / Owner directly to establish the PM PLAN framework to

build consensus amongst the stakeholders by determining the feasibility and justifying theconstruction project is sustainable and worthwhile.
Project Management is defined as “the application of Knowledge. Skills, Tools and Techniques to Project Activities to meet Project Requirements.”
The Project Manager (PM) is charged with defining the project scope, time, costs and the quality requirements for project execution and final closeout.
The PM facilitates the construction process to achieve the needs and expectations of the Client / Owner. (Stakeholders)
1. In the DUE DILIGENCE & INITIATING phase of the new construction project, the project manager (PM) develops a project feasibility study to help define and justify

the project to Management / Stakeholder groups for approval to proceed.
2. In the DESIGN & PROCUREMENT phases of the new construction project, the PM develops the scope of work and procedures and work deliverable requirements for project

execution.
3. In the CONSTRUCTION phase the PM develops the schedule / critical path and the monitoring and control procedures and processes for cost and administration of the

project to closeout. (timelines, cost and administrative)
4. In the group PP include your Executive Summary description and the requirements for Construction Project Closeout.
