Archaeological
Each student is required to submit a brief (2-3 page) summary of one archaeological site and thearchaeological research that has been conducted at that site. You may
choose any archaeologicalsite from any geographic region and any time period. This assignment is designed to givestudents a sense for some of the theoretical questions
archaeologists are interested in, as well assome of the methods archaeologists use to conduct research and formulate interpretations ofarchaeological data. You must
describe the site, explain the research that has been conducted atthe site, and explain how any conclusions/interpretations were arrived at by the researchers.Your
summary must draw upon information obtained from at least three different sources. Thesesources may consist of journal articles, magazine articles, websites,
encyclopedias, etc. Allsources must be cited in-text following any standard convention, for example (Ortmann 2015).Full bibliographic citation information for each
source must also be included at the end of the
document in any standard convention that includes: author’s/authors’ name(s), date of
publication, title of article or book chapter, title of journal or magazine, title of website, websiteurl, publisher’s name, page numbers, etc. (whatever information
is appropriate for each specificcitation). I’m not going to hold you to using any particular source of information or type of
source, however, any information you include in your assignment MUST BE ACCURATE.Do not simply copy and paste information into your assignment. Instead, rephrase
anyinformation that you include in your assignment in your own words. Plagiarism is a seriousoffense and will not be tolerated. Refer to the course syllabus and the
current MSU Bulletin formore information about plagiarism.Your summary must be typed, double-spaced (be sure that the space between paragraphs doesnot exceed two
lines), include page numbers, and use exactly 1-inch margins (on all sides), andno larger than 12-point font. If you do not follow these guidelines, you will lose
points on yourassignment.
