Digital Culture
Using the course’s thematic units, the writer will choose a controversial topic
to research over the course of the semester. One aspect of the issue will be
the subject for the short research essay; continued analysis and research of the
controversial issue will culminate in the final extended research essay.
The writer will compose a 3 to 5 page Rogerian-method argument paper using
one aspect of a issue related to one of the readings from
Unit 3. The writer will base his or her research on the issue to develop a
Rogerian-method argument using no more than 3-4 academic sources found in
the OSU-OKC databases. The paper will be formatted according to MLA
standards with parenthetical citations and a Works Cited page.

Critically think about and analyze the issue before beginning the writing process.
Utilize all aspects of the writing process from discovery to editing
Focus his or her ideas on knowledge he or she already has about the social problem to write the first draft sans research. At this point, the writer will be able to recognize areas which require further knowledge that require research.
Thoroughly research the social issue.
Construct a fully developed outline.
Write a rough draft incorporating research, parenthetical citations and Works Cited page for class for peer review.
Submit the final draft to the Drop box on or before the due date.
It is important to note that the Works Cited page is included as the final page
in the essay and not uploaded as a separate document.
