Armory Show of 1913

Paper details:
This is for a Humanities in the Americas course. What is the big deal about the Armory Show of 1913? Why is it important in the 20th American art? Pick one of the paintings, perhaps “Nude Descending a Staircase” or another one exhibited at the show and describe how these paintings are different from what came before?

Also respond about 200 words to this post just explaining your thoughts to it:
The Ashcan School worked to portray life in New York City in the early 1900s. The school had eight members — all of them painters. The members were Robert Henri, George Wesley Bellows, William Glackens, Everett Shinn, George Luks, and John Sloan. The school was initially formed in order to rebel against the criteria of the time that was meant for popular painting. In 1908, the school opened up their first exhibit at the Macbeth Gallery. Aside from painting pictures of realistic city life, the School painted pictures of landscapes as well. The Ashcan School was the first group that attempted to portray reality in paintings. This part of their legacy had a severely significant impact on American art.
