It’s been a long, hard course, so this last SLP includes something that’s intended to be fun. That would be Part II.
Part I: You will continue analyzing the company you picked in SLP1. Please discuss:
Part II: For this part of the SLP, you will generate a 2-D barcode in QR format.
Several sources on the Web offer free apps for creating barcode. One of them is TEC-IT (n.d.), which has a reference, including a URL, on the Background Info page. But there are others. Feel free to use any of them.
We will be expecting something similar to this in your SLP, with your name and student ID number. We’ll scan and decode it, to make sure it’s you.
Now that you can create QR codes, maybe you’d like to be able to read them, perhaps to check this assignment. If so, you’ll need a barcode scanner app. To install one on your smart phone, do the following.
Go to your browser (Google, Chrome, Foxfire, or whatever).
Enter “QR scanner” in the search line.
Take your pick of free apps.
Follow the vendor’s instructions to install the app you pick.
To install a scanner on your computer, rather than your phone, follow the same steps. Most computer-based scanner apps require you to take a picture of the code, using your photo software, store in as an image (for example, as a .jpeg document), and then send that file to the app for decoding.
(A personal note. Your Course Developer’s 13-year-old nephew recently discovered this technology, and proceeded to stick an Avery label onto almost everything in the house. Each label had a QR code identifying the object; e.g., “Sony TV.” He told his bewildered mother, “It’s to help the droids, when they take over.” We think it was an elaborate prank, but with 13-year-old boys, one can never be sure.)
LOG 302
This SLP continues your analysis of the organization you nominated in SLP1.
You may find it convenient to review the thumbnail descriptions of the various logistical functions, found in SLP1.
For this SLP, please address the organization’s involvement in reverse logistics. The nature of reverse logistics depends upon the organization. Not all of the following topics may be relevant; please address those that are.
