2. Save the project file as Train_YourFirstName_YourLastName. For example, Train_Pauline_Fu.

the tasks, and then click the Link Tasks button in the Schedule group on the Task tab.)

Part 2.

CommunityWorks As a counselor at CommunityWorks, a career counseling firm, you
continue working on a project to help new college graduates with technical degrees find
employment. You want to format the project so it is easy for your clients to read, and
you want to shorten the critical path to help them attain their goal sooner. Complete the
following:
1. Open the Jobs data file.
2. Save the file as Jobs_YourFirstName_YourLastName.
3. Filter the Gantt chart for critical tasks. Note the tasks on the critical path. Clear the
filter. Filter for the date range 5/1/14 to 5/7/14. Note the tasks that meet this criteria.
Clear all filters.
4. Open the Task Inspector and review each task. What do you notice about Meet with
counselor (task 3)? The team informed you that a counselor will be available. Review
the current constraint assigned to the task, and then change it to As Soon As Possible.
5. Delete the link between Existing Contacts (task 11) and Establish new contacts
(task 14). How is the Finish date impacted?
6. Customize the display of bars in the Gantt Chart view by specifying that the task

the Scheduled Finish date is displayed on the right side of the summary Gantt bars.
7. Open the Gridlines dialog box and format the Project Start line to a dashed red line.

in the Gantt chart.

the start and end shapes and colors.
11. Drag the split bar between the Entry table and the Gantt chart to the left so that no
columns from the Entry table are visible.
12. Preview the Gantt chart, and then add your name to the left side of the header. Adjust
the preview if necessary so it fits on one page, and then print this if requested. (Note:
In the Preview, you see the Entry table Task ID column and the Task Name column
because this information is needed to interpret the information in the Gantt chart.)
13. Save the project, and switch to Network Diagram view.
14. Draw a box directly below task 1 to add a new task 2. Working in the new box, add
the task name Design a business card and specify a duration of four hours.
15. Link Design a business card (task 2) to Create resume (task 3) in a Finish-to-Start (FS)
dependency.
16. Return to Gantt Chart view, drag the split bar to the right so that the Start and Finish
columns of the Entry table are visible again, and then adjust the column widths as
needed to display all the data.
17. Insert the Indicators column to the left of the Task Name column. Resize it to best fit.
18. In the Entry table, change the Start date for Design a business card (task 2) to June 1,
2014. Read the explanation in the Planning Wizard dialog box that opens, and then
