Thesis statement: the definition of the term political correctness is counterproductive.
In the world we live in today political correctness seems unachievable. The people who hold political positions implement more evil than good. Political correctness is whereby people in the political class treat citizens with dignity, respect, and without any kind of discrimination. I however find political correctness counterproductive.
When we find issues of discrimination and inequality there is a tendency that politicians will give more attention so as to attain political correctness. In the attempt to achieve political correctness more differences are brought about making these minor groups feel more different and marginalized. They end up feeling that they are not like the others and consequently trying to achieve political correctness crates more harm than good.
In making sure that people are equal so as to achieve political correctness, there must be unity and strength in protecting those groups that are prone to discrimination. This kind of treatment/protection make people feel like they are lesser beings. This shows that the protecting group is superior and the one being protected is inferior. The fact that the protectors are superior makes them feel unequal and discriminated.
It therefore poses the question whether we should still fight for political correctness without making the less disadvantaged to feel more different. The main purpose of political correctness is ensuring that marginalized people feel more considered and appreciated. If we give them more attention they ask themselves why they are being given more attention which makes them realize that they are different.
Political correctness is achievable however its definition must be adjusted a little bit. This is because it is not a thing that can be achieved in a day since making a minority group to have power and influence may take long. Yes they may feel inferior but in actions they are not discriminated as they are able to access things in the same way as the ‘normal’ groups do.
