You’ve changed the IP address of the Host (A) record in your DNS Server running on Windows Server 2012 for your organization’s web server. You were told
that many users on the internet are still pointing to the old IP address of the web server, even though you made this change two hours ago. Would you
explain a couple reasons to what might be the problem and how to remedy the situation?
2) System Administration: (3 Marks)
A new network was configured for 500 employees. However, it is not performing as planned. Like it is expected, there is a large volume of traffic hitting
the company’s servers in the morning when users try to login to the network to start their working day. After you heard the description of the problem, you
suspect that the issue is related to the DHCP Server and its current configuration. Explain how you can re-configure the DHCP server to resolve the issue.
3) System Administration: (3 Marks)
In regards to the previous technical issue, a couple employees are calling to the help desk to complain that they can’t connect to the network, as they are
not getting an IP Address from the DHCP Server. After analyzing the issue, you realized that these users are located in a different network. Which DHCP
configuration will allow these users to get an IP Address?

5) Infrastructure Design: (8 Marks)
You are building a windows environment for a new company with 400 users across 2 cities. You want to keep the level of complexity to the minimum. But you
want to make sure that the proposed infrastructure will support any future growth.
a) Define the types and number of containers that you are planning to deploy in the new solution. Provide a justification for your recommendation(s)
b) Since the company has offices in 2 cities, do you recommend the implementation of Sites? Provide a justification for your recommendation
c) Assuming you are implementing Sites, how can you control the data replication between multiple Active directories on both sites?
d) Using Microsoft Visio, develop a logical design diagram (FYI, Microsoft Visio is available in all computers @ Seneca)
6) Infrastructure Design: (6 Marks)
A medium size web hosting company is booming. Today they have only 100 employees in Toronto, but they are planning to open a second location in Calgary
within 4 weeks. They are projecting an increase of 50% of the personnel in Toronto and 150% in Calgary. In order to properly manage the increase in
personnel, the company wants to install and configure a DHCP and DNS servers across both locations, as the company does not have them today. As the IT
consultant for the company, the management asked you to design both services:
a) Your DHCP design should take in consideration the following: 1. The number of DHCP Scopes for each location2. The DHCP Scope ranges to accommodate the number of clients that the company has today, in addition to a 50% and 150% projected growth.3. What do you need to do to allow a DHCP Server to broadcast IP Addresses across the network?4. Which is the main Security feature that is built within the DHCP server?
b) Your DNS design should take in consideration the following: 1. Determinate the new domain name and explain why you may or may not need sub-domains in the organization2. How many Zones are you going to include in your design, and why?3. Which is the main advantage of the reverse lookup zones for the company? Explain.4. Since the company will have multiple locations, is there anything that we should be taking in consideration in regards to the DNS configuration?
7) System Administration (2 Marks)
A junior system administrator needs to build a script to list all properties from all users in active directory. Create a userID and name it “patrick101”.
Research the windows command(s) that will provide to the junior system administrator with all properties from this new user. Execute the command and
provide the output.
8) System Administration (4 Marks) You have been promoted to Sr. System Administrator. Your new role requires the ability to create scripts to manage your active directory. However, you need
to learn the basic commands before you can develop new scripts. Using the command prompt create the following OU structure. Provide the commands that you
executed to create the below OUs and a screenshot with your new OU structure in the AD. Note: OU-Montreal and OU-Toronto are nested under ON-Canada
9) Infrastructure Design: (3 Marks)
A medium size organization is running a relatively old windows infrastructure. Unfortunately, the organization has small IT budget to do any upgrades. The
IT manager has identified some critical areas in the currently infrastructure that needs to improved asap, or the organization may be faced with services
outages. One of these areas includes the DNS infrastructure. Currently, the organization has a single DNS server for the entire company. Provide a group of
options to improve the DNS infrastructure. Describe the main advantages and disadvantages of each of your options.
10) Infrastructure Design (3 Marks): Virtual Servers
Alice has a computer running Windows Server 2012 R2 with 8 GB of memory installed, which she has configured as a Hyper-V server. After creating eight VMs
with the New Virtual Machine Wizard, each with a startup RAM value of 1,024 MB, Alice is having trouble getting all eight VMs to boot. What settings can
she modify to resolve the problem without changing the startup RAM value?
