Beam Shear Force Lab Test

LAB 5 – Beam Shear Force ln qeneral: You will be recording the shear force, in Newtons (N), at location C (where the load cell is positioned on ihe apparatus). Using the data acquired, calculations will focus on: comparing the experimental values with theoreticalvalues {i.e. examining how shear force is effected by va;ying load amounts and locations), error analysis, generating shear and bending molnent diagrams, and developing charts for visual analysis of results. (
Lab reports will require {in oddition to usuol items on the rubric) the fotlowing: o Results data table (as provided) o Calculations: o ^”‘:'”lL”iii;T’Ji1T..-‘:” ,’:::”” and Bending Moment Diagrams ror: . Distribuled Loading – Trail 2 o Only diagrams fo) these three scenarios are required. However: diagrams of other scenarios of the same experiment MUST be discussed in this section or in your conclusion. lf not, sketches of the other scenarios (don’t have to be drawn to scale) must be included. o Graphs: o'”””.”‘?:;””J,*”*1;,:””.’l;:.*:f:meerann:
. Theoretical Shear vs. Location o lnfluence line – Both on same graph: . Experimental Shear vs. Location . Theoretical Shear vs. Locatiorr o Discussion/Conclusion (in addition to rubric): o MUST compare theoretical vs experimental results! ) Refer to diagrams and graphs in your report for conformation of conclusions. (i.e,: “See figu reI diagram/chart/table o Must discuss degree of error for various experiments ! ) Results Valid? o Personal observations, meet objectives? Etc.
Colculotions and Diagrams moy be hondwritten, NOT graphs
