Instructions:
For this assignment students must produce an essay introduction for an essay on Beowulf. Your introduction must integrate at least one quotation from a scholarly essay on the novel. Assignments will be graded for the effectiveness of your developments of the following elements:
1.Proper formatting
2.A title with two distinct section (imaginative/explanatory)
3.Effective integration of a quotation taken from a critical source (critical essay from a scholarly journal that is used to support your claim)
4. Section A. An opening section which provides context for your claim and compels the reader’s interest
a) identify your topic and indicate why it matters
5. Section B: A bridge section which connects your opening directly to your specific text
6. Section C. A clearly marked thesis statement which includes the following elements:
a) statement of intention by your the essay writer
b) the author of the text you are writing on
c) an identification of topic
d) your specific claim about what meaning the author produces through the representation of this aspect of the text
7. A topic sentence to begin your first body paragraph
8. Clear, efficient, articulate writing
9. A works cited section with properly formatted citations
