Practicing Positive Psychology – Gratitude Assignment
Think about someone who has done something important or impacted you in a positive way, yet who has not been properly thanked.
Reflect on the impact that person has had on your life.
Write him/her a letter expressing your gratitude for all he/she did for you.
This letter should be no more than one-page in length, typed -or- written. Think of putting it on decorative paper or in a decorated container. You may need to
photography the letter to include with this assignment.
Arrange a visit to a friend/family member in advance, not telling the person exactly why you are coming, making sure it is just a one-on-one visit. (A second best
choice would be to Skype with the person, but an “in person” visit is preferred.)
Read your letter aloud to him/her spend some time with him/her talking about what you wrote.
Reflect upon the experience of writing and sharing the letter.
Type a minimum of a one-page paper about your experience sharing the letter.
This paper is to be at least one-page, 12 point font, double-spaced with 1-inch margins
Upload your gratitude letter and one-page reflection.
