Book review-Sufis, Salafis and Islamists: The Contested Ground of British Islamic Activism -History

Instructions for Final Paper
The purpose of this assignment is to write a critical book review by taking into consideration the
broader literature on the same topic. For your analysis, choose a scholarly book published in the
last two years in the broader field of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. A handy resource to
see the most recent books released in the field is the monthly book roundups published at
www.themaydan.com. Your analysis should make use of at least two other books on the same or
similar topic. You do not need to read these additional books in their entirety but you need to get
to know and state their major arguments and contribubtions. The use of any additional material
to your analysis is optional. However, your paper should reflect familiarity with the broader
literature on the topic and engage with other works. Please visit JSTOR, an electronic database
available at library.gmu.edu, for book reviews and any articles to the broader topic of the book of
your choice. Your paper should show an in-dept understanding of principal approaches,
concepts, mythologies, and questions in the literature you examine.
