Select a topic or two. I am interested in finding out what topic has piqued your curiosity the most whereas you are interested in discovering new information. I am only interested in new information and not information that has already been provided in the textbook. I will provide an example. You are not allowed to use this example at all. In chapter 3 (which was not assigned to you), IU briefly discussed breastfeeding. I found an article that discussed foods women should avoid while breastfeeding. Many of you were surprised with the list including foods such as broccoli and spinach. The article also discussed the long term benefits of breastfeeding in a small longitudinal study as it pertained to obesity rates. You will need to provide a full copy of your article attached to your assignment. I will deduct 25 points if the article is not attached).
First Paragraph (Introduction) Introduce your topic – subject (provide brief information about the subject. I am not asking for formal thesis statement). However, you should state the purpose of your assignment in this paragraph – Main Points. You also will discuss (briefly) your intended outcome or findings.
This assignment is divided into a number of paragraphs. Decide what points you’re going to discuss in your assignment and include a new paragraph for each main point.
A paragraph usually starts with a topic sentence stating the main idea, followed by supporting evidence and examples. Remember, at this stage all you need to write is a draft topic sentence and a few ideas outlining your evidence and examples.
