Brief Writing paper 2#: Put a Meme Image
Read the webpage about memes, watch the videos, and research some memes before working on this paper . Considering the premise of a meme and the many versions available to remix, complete the following assignment.
develop a meme that works off a common image, type, or slogan that you have encountered (either before or from your review of memes this week). Your meme should be original in some way, but part of the genre of the meme is that it picks up elements from already existing memes. For instance, you might take a picture of your cat doing something silly and type a grammatically incorrect comment on it. This would be a “lol cat” meme, which continues to be the most common type of meme. You may choose a picture commonly used in memes like the Willy Wonka image (known as the condescending Wonka) and create your own tag line. Be sure to research your meme before creating the tag, however, as certain pictures are typically associated with certain types of comments. You may use whatever program you wish to complete the meme image. Just be sure to save your image so that you can submit it as an attached file in Moodle.
It should:
· display understanding of what a meme is (based on the videos)
· Illustrate your awareness of genre expectations for particular memes (based on your research—may come from knowyourmeme.com or a Google search)
· Include both image and text (based on the instructions)
· Be funny and/or poignant (based on your genius)
