Linear Programming Formulations, Running Solver, and Interpreting Results

Attached are 4 linear program formulations similar to those done in class.  Input the formulations into EXCEL and use Solver to determine the optimal answer.

1. Use your linear programs from the MBEs as a starting template
2. Develop each or the problems on paper before attempting to input into EXCEL/Solver
3. If you come to the professors or TAs for assistance without the problems worked on paper in hand you will be turned away and told to completed the problem on paper first
4. Have a single EXCEL file with all three completed (final version) problems

Case Study Requirements:

1. Cover sheet from this document with all of the team member names (TYPED!) and signatures.  (1 page portrait)

• No more than 4 members to a group; you may have less than 4 members and you may submit individually
• All members of the group must sign the cover sheet or nobody in the group gets credit
• Signing the cover sheet acknowledges that each member attests the work submitted was completed only by members of the group (i.e. if anyone copied from another group and submitted it to the group, each member of the group is guilty of plagiarism)

2. EXCEL worksheet for each problem (4 pages landscape)

• 0.5” page margins on the top, bottom, and sides; include a title box indicating the problem
• Output centered vertically and horizontally.  Do not increase the size of the output over 100% in an effort to fill the entire page!
• Solution clearly identified in the spreadsheet
• 0.5” space between the title box and the solution.
• Up to 25 percentage points will be deducted for “non-professional” reports (i.e. neatness).
• If the assignment is incomplete (i.e. you did not make a good effort on each of the 3 problems), the entire assignment is a 0 (zero).

3. Points will be deducted for excess output (there should be 8 pages total).

4. Submit your EXCEL file to Carmen (1 person per group) before the due date.

• Your EXCEL file name will be of the format “BusMGT2321 PE2 Lastname”, using the last name of the first person alphabetically in your group.
• For instance, my file name would be:  BusMGT2321 PE2 Klinker
