Can you write the comments for these two thoughts. And please write I agree or disagree.
First thought; One specific company culture change that I remember, took place a few years ago. A company that I had been a part of for approximately 4 years, decided that it wanted to extend its office hours. Everyone who was used to working a regular shift, such as 8-4p Monday through Friday, would now be required to rotate shifts that included an evening and possible weekend. This was a change that was made without warning and was set as a requirement effective immediately.

While this change was a positive for customers, as it would provide them extended service hours; it was not accepted very easily by the employees that would be affected. Individuals such as myself began working for the company with the appreciation that the office hours provided a work-life balance that met our needs. The idea of now having to put my children in aftercare programs that provided extended hours, or find relatives that would be willing to help, was extremely disappointing.

As a result, many of us started to search for other employment that would once again fit our needs. The department turnover rate increased almost immediately. Management was forced to take a different approach that included allowing individuals to volunteer and cover the extended hours rather than making it a requirement for all. I continued in my search and eventually left the company. Due to the breech of trust many others followed suit and the department has not had quite as a strong of a team since.(Simon)
Second Thought: Going off of the example of the smoke-free work environment, a huge culture change that has also taken place is the smoke-free restaurants and bars. In Delaware because of the Clean Indoor Air Act, it is illegal to smoke in most indoor areas open to the public, public meetings, food service establishments and places of employment. This has impacted employees of those establishments as they no longer need to work in a smoke filled environment unless they chose to do so. This has impacted our society because we now expect to go eat or have a good time without having to deal with people smoking around you. This past spring my friends and I took a trip to Dallas, Texas where we encountered a completely different society of accepting and dealing with smoking indoors. It was awful to go out to a restaurant and have to eat next to someone puffing away but it didn’t faze anyone around them, just us. I didn’t realize how much we take the smoking ban in Delaware for granted and how it had become a norm for us Delawareans. It has had a huge impact in our society for the better.(carla)

And these are all about Describe the impact of a culture change that you are familiar with (example: the new smoke-free work environment) and provide examples of the impact to employees, organizations, or society.
