Description: Case Study: Population Health Across the Life Span: Adults John is a 52 year old African American construction worker. He earns a good living, but his construction work is very seasonal and he hasn’t routinely been able to afford health insurance. He considers himself to be in good health, but hasn’t had any health screening in many years. In recent months he’s been experiencing transient chest pain on exertion. The episodes, lasting less than five minutes, and have always resolved with rest. He is concerned and coupled with his wife’s prompting he has made an appointment for a check-up. He isn’t experiencing any chest pain now, but is surprised to learn that his BP is elevated at 150/100. John states, 1 guess I need to start taking better care of myself. I’m not as young as I used to be.”
