This paper summarizes a dance drama based on a pivtial and thought-provoking short novel called Kong Yiji. Kong Yiji, a famous novel written by Luxun, one of the most siginificant literture figure thourgh Chinse history, has made a huge impact and enlightment to the people and the society at that time. By portraying this vivid figure Kong yiji, too concieit to acknowledge his shortcoming yet proud of his fault; too obsessed with learning traditional knowledge to live in the present so that he woundn’t consider his action of stealing book stealing, Lu xun succefully reflected the man of culture at that time period: lonely, pitful and asocial. What’s hidden behind the layer of the story is his anguish and deep anxiety towards the modern society and his sincere wish of changing society and reconciling China. When Kong yiji is presented through dance drama, it was easier to observe, with all the dramatic gesture and cooperating lights on the stage, that how, under the society at that time, man of culture was unfairly treated and negelcted by the community. The dance drama was consisted in three parts, each followed with three different background music. by putting three small plot in the novel together, vivdly presenting Kong Yiji’s mood under threee pivital scene in the novel.
