You are to choose any time during the abbasid period from 750-1258. You should pick one aspect of the Christian life under Muslim rule and focus on that. You will need many primary sources but secondary could also be used. You might want to consider focusing on Egypt or Syria since there is generally more sources on Christians from these areas. As well as using Christian sources you should use Muslim as well especially since you are looking at how Muslims dealt with Christians. Jabari and Masudi are good choices. You might want to look at how tabor deals with figures in the pre-Islamic period. You could also include mirrors for princes-governmental manuals that might discuss how to deal with non-Muslims. You should also look at texts like Shahrastani;s work on the sects of Islam which much discuss Christians as well. nYou may pick at topic of your choosing as long as it has to be with Christians living under Muslim rule during the Abbasid Period. You could discuss what Christian elites thought about Muslim rule or how Christian theology changed. Choose a narrow topic please.
