Close the Gap’ is a program initiative committed to closing the health and life expectancy between Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians by 2030. Whilst measureable improvements take time, there have been some demonstrated improvements in reducing smoking rates, improvements in maternal and child health outcomes and behaviours that lead to chronic diseases.-Critically analyse and discuss the impact and any relevancy on today’s health of the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population;
-Describe and discuss what approaches (old and new) have, or are currently being adopted to address or promote the issue from a health promotion perspective; what has worked and what hasn’t and why?
– Identify any benefits or challenges related to the issue to the wider Australian population;
-Using strengths based approach, discuss and describe the role of the nurse in meeting the current and future meeds of the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait population;
-From a health promotion perspective, discuss and describe the role of nurse in meeting the current and future needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population;
