Mini-Speech Analysis – You will watch the following speech and write about a 1-2 page mini-analysis paper. Your response much be thoughtful, engaged, developed, clear, and responsive to the prompts below. Base your response off of this speech:

Analyze the speeches’ organizational pattern. Is it well organized? Why or why not?
Does the speaker or speech have a clear introduction with an attention getter, central idea/thesis, and a preview? How about the conclusion?
Are the main points well balanced, organized, consistent, distinct, and appropriate?
How did the speaker signal the end of the speech? What was your overall impression of the speech?
Who do you think the intended audience was? Did you feel like you were a part of the audience? Why or why not?
According to the concepts we’ve learned in class, was this speech effective? Why or why not? Is it still relevant to today’s society? Why?
Part 2: Offer an intellectual response to the speech, do you relate to the speech? Reflect on your response to the speaker’s overall message. Do you agree/disagree? How has this message played a part in your life?
Part 3: In any given speech, the audience is just as important as the speaker. What are qualities that a great speaker possesses? What are the speaker’s as well as audience’s responsibilities during a speech?
