Compare and Contrast behavioral and Cognitive behavioral therapy with psychodynamic psychotherapy

Compare and Contrast behavioral and Cognitive behavioral therapy with psychodynamic psychotherapy

Order instructions:
using Freuds psychotherapy and Behavioral and Cognitive behavioral therapy. Compare and contrast these approaches in terms of both their theoretical
assumptions as well as the techniques used in therapy. What are the
similarities and differences in their underlying hypotheses about how the mind
works and how is this evident in their therapeutic procedures? Finally,
evaluate empirical evidence that may support one over the other.

Using Jung’s work for psychotherapy and albert ellis’s work for CBT

Further Guidelines
• You do not need to include an abstract for this essay.
• Any two approaches covered this semester are acceptable. Choosing
approaches that are in clear contrast to each other is likely to make for a
clearer essay.
• It is recommended that you choose two “general” theories, however if you
wish you can focus on specific subtypes of the theories. For example, you
may specifically focus on REBT (instead of CBT generally) versus Jungian
analytical psychology (instead of Psychoanalytic generally).
• You may reference your textbook, though it is expected that you read
more widely. Books such as practitioner guides (a primary source) will be
helpful in developing a deeper understanding of each approach.
• You are asked to demonstrate knowledge of the theories and show
originality and integration of thought in a concise and clear fashion.
• Your essay question asks you to evaluate the empirical evidence. You
should search for high quality journal articles evaluating the efficacy of the
approaches. Use of meta-analyses will be helpful.
• If the empirical evidence does not indicate that one approach is more
efficacious it is acceptable for this to be your conclusion. In this case your
essay should explore the reasons why the research is not definitive (i.e.
quality of evidence).
• There is no set number of required references, however having less than
five would show a lack of breadth in your reading
• Your essay will be evaluated on how well you answer the question and
logically present your perspective.
• See the rubric for marking criteria.
