Presentation 1

 Two presentations are required for each CSNT course. For in-class students the presentation will be presented in front of the class using the projector. For online-classes the student will make a screen recording and post the presentation to YouTube. Free screen recording software may be found here: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/ The software is just an example; you may search google and use other software. You are to create a presentation (using PowerPoint or similar software) and present the following topic to the class (YouTube for online students) • Research two different Linux distribution (not the two used in this class CentOS or Ubuntu) • Create a 3 to 7 minute presentation to compare and contrast the two you pick. • A good place to look for different distributions is: http://distrowatch.com/

Presentation 2

You are to create a presentation (using PowerPoint or similar software) and present ONE of the following topics to the class (YouTube for online students)

  • Bash Scripting
  • Regular Expressions
  • Gnome vs KDE
  • WINE
  • Simple Linux System Monitoring
  • Picking Linux Hardware
  • Dangers of being logged in as root all the time.
  • Dangers of overusing the alias command.
  • GUI vs CLI.
  • Other (lesser known) desktop environment
  • Training average users on Linux
  • How to reset a root password in CentOS

 Time of presentation 3 – 7 minutes: (25 points)
