Computational Methods in Engineering| Mathematics – Trigonometry

 Prepare a well-organized assignment. Write your

final equation using Microsoft Word and attached

your hand writing at the end of your solution

 Make sure it is all your own effort and don’t copy

any other student’s work (there shouldn’t be any

two similar assignments)

 Explain all steps of your solution (should be at the

attached hand writing papers).

 Be creative.

All the best

Question 1: For the points in the table below:

A. Find the fifth degree Lagrange interpolating polynomial

-2 86

-1 23.5

0 18

1 15.5

2 -26

3 -256.5

B. Chose any three points of your own, and find the value of f(x)

for each point. (you may use your ID number for example or

some parts of it)

C. Using any software or websites, draw the function f(x) you

found in the first part of the question (part A)

D. Use any two points from the table above and find the degree

One Lagrange polynomial.

E. Repeat part (B) using the new function (degree one Lagrange).

F. Comment on the difference between the values in B and E.
