Assignment 1 Brief

Assignment written by Giles Dawes Date 05/01/15
Assignment IV’d by Steve Atherton Date 05/01/15
Scenario
You will be required to produce a written assignment based on the members of the production team, their roles and responsibilities. It should contain details of how communications are carried out regarding instructions or requests for information with members of the design team.

The assignment should be completed in the format of a written report and contain a cover sheet, contents page and images where relevant.

P1
Describe the factors that influence the design process.

Factors to be discussed include:
Cost constraints, legal constraints and physical constraints.

P2
Explain the following with regards to the design team:
1. Identify all members of the design team
2. Explain their relevant backgrounds and their expected qualifications
3. Explain their roles and responsibilities
4. Explain how the members interact with each other
5. Explain the advantages of working in a team rather than an individual.

M1
Explain the use of the RIBA Architect’s Plan of Work and explain how and at what stage it integrates design factors such as:
1. The purpose and function of the project
2. The suitability of the site location
3. Project finance

Demonstrate in you answer what can happen if the Plan of Work is modified or not followed properly.

D1
Evaluate the effectiveness of the RIBA Architect’s Plan of Work in terms of teamwork and the introduction of design changes after construction has started.

The Plan should be evaluated in terms of its flexibility and practical application in use.

Examples of changes to design once construction work has begun should be used to consider how to accommodate these changes. You must demonstrate some understanding of the need for a degree of flexibility and the ability to respond swiftly to changes in different circumstances.

DO NOT use Wikipedia as a reference source.
To achieve the merit and distinction the Harvard reference system must be used. You will not be awarded higher than a pass if your work is not referenced according to the college policy.
