English 306 Final Proposal (200 Points)
Proposals are used to problem-solve and optimize in both professional fields and advanced degree
work. The process of writing this paper is designed to give you experience, tools, and strategies to
master this genre of professional writing.
For the rest of the semester, you will be involved in conceiving, researching, and writing a proposal
based on existing problem (s) within your field/major. The final proposal must be—4 single spaced
pages minimum, 1 of which must consist of visuals.
Remember that to be persuasive, you’ll need to demonstrate how the issue you identify is currently a
problem. Usually it’s most effective to at least start with some kind of impact of the problem you are
addressing. In addition to showing how the issue is compelling, you’ll need to show how your solution
makes sense, and what is an efficient, effective, and cost-saving answer to the problem.
You’ll also need to anticipate objections, complications, and the like—you cannot assume the readers
will be on board with your idea, so you’ll need to incorporate answers to questions they will be likely
to raise.
For example: if you are a Public Health major you can focus on Type II Diabetes, Obesity, AIDS/HIV
(meaning the problem/issue is prevalent enough to need solution(s). You can focus on more than 1
issue, but make sure the ae connected (Obesity can lead to Type II Diabetes, which shows their
connection, but Obesity and AIDS/HIV have no correlation between each other
