Demonstrate commitment and diligence in performance- Software Engineering

Reply to this article using 200 words and references. Should I stay or Should I go now? To the conferences and education courses that is, in the spirit of maintaining proficiency of course. There is a part of me that really wants to lean towards citing the continuing education, attending conferences, etc, as it pertains to certifications, ultimately crafts the narrative of cyclical revenue. “Those who lavish gold from the purse And weigh silver on the scale Hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; They bow down, indeed they worship it.” (Isiah 46:6).

The perception of your skill-set, knowledge, and proficiency becomes measured by your ability to obtain CPEs in the quest to keep your certifications active. I’m not sure embedding statements of maintaining proficiency fits well into a Code of Ethics. How does this directly lead to ethical behavior or ensures you will maintain a level of ethics. If you do not pursue the continuing education or conferences post certification, it seems to imply a level of unethical behavior or a non-compliant position. I believe a Code of Ethics is paramount in all aspects of life. My previous statements are not a buy-in to a cynical view, but highlighting a real aspect regarding the scope of certifications.

The co-mingling of proficiency and ethics seem awkward to me. I prefer to match your actions and display of character to ethics. “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:1). Below is a Code of Ethics (ISFCE) for the Certified Computer Examiner Certification (CCE).

This certification reflects a code of ethics without stating you must attend events, training, and conferences. A Certified Computer Examiner will at all times: Demonstrate commitment and diligence in performance of assigned duties. Demonstrate integrity in completing professional assignments. Maintain the utmost objectivity in all forensic examinations and accurately present findings.

Conduct examinations based on established, validated procedures. Abide by the highest moral and ethical standards and abide by the Code of the ISFCE .Testify truthfully in all matters before any board, court or proceeding. Avoid any action that would knowingly present a conflict of interest .Comply with all legal orders of the courts.
