(3) How successful was the post-Civil War Reconstruction period in terms of politics, economics, and culture’ How did approaches to the Reconstruction of that Union differ between President Lincoln, President Johnson, and the Radical Republicans of Congress? Was the Reconstruction of the Union an overall success or failure at its conclusion in 1877? What issues (if any) were left unresolved when the Reconstruction ended?
