You are to locate AT LEAST SEVEN research articles from academic sources on your pre-approved topic. You are to write a 3-5 page proposal that addresses a problem related to the criminal justice system. A reference sheet, listing the articles should also be included (this does not count toward your page limit).
These will be 3-5 page (double-spaced, 12 pt font) statements related to a criminal justice issue of your choosing. You will propose a new policy or a change to an existing policy based on theories learned in this course. This assignment must incorporate at least 7 academic sources. The policy brief should be centered around the following headings:
Introduction/Statement of the problem
Why is your social issue important? Why do we need to change something to make it better?
Review of current policy/alternatives
Describe the current policies in place related to your issue
What assumptions have been made about your social problem leading to the current policies?
Statement of necessity for change
Argue for why you think society needs to change its policies using course theories and concepts
Proposed changes/ideal outcome
Propose specific changes to policies (or new policies entirely) that will help to achieve your desired goals
