I. Theme: Under the leadership of Diego de Vargas, the Spanish returned to New Mexico in the early 1690s. Upon their return, the Spanish re-established their authority and the Catholic religion in New Mexico. However, many of the Pueblo people would remain resentful of the Spanish and in 1696, another revolt would be in the making.

II. Content: Choose 11 letters (i.e. documents) plus the introductory chapter from
‘The Pueblo Revolt of 1696 and the Franciscan Missions in New Mexico’ by J. Manuel Espinosa and then answer the following questions:
