Describes proper compliance with treatment programs

PowerPoint, it is 10 to slides in length with detailed speaker notes, though students are encouraged to create a presentation in another creative, effective medium.

You are a community health educator and you have been tasked with developing a presentation to be given in a setting to educate an audience on one specific kind of diabetes.

Identify your audience. Examples include the following:

•Senior center

•Middle school

Consider the best method so it is crafted in an appropriate and understandable way for your identified audience.

Choose from the two following options, which kind of diabetes you’ll be reporting on:

Option A: Type I

•How society views diabetes (what society thinks it is versus what it actually is, common beliefs and practices)

•Signs and symptoms

•Compliance with treatment regimens

•Impact on health care resources

Option B: Type II

•How society views diabetes (what society thinks it is versus what it actually is)

•Preventive measures

•Making the right decisions to live a healthy life

•Compliance with common beliefs

•Impact on health care resources

3. Describes making the right decisions to live a healthy life

4. Describes proper compliance with treatment programs

Tips for your PowerPoint presentation:

PowerPoint’s presentations are creative or innovative ways to present information and be interactive with the audience. PowerPoint’s slides are not lecture notes. To that end, only snapshots of information should be on the slides- use creativity with bullet points, appropriate graphics, charts etc. Do not write paragraphs or long sentences. Because this is an online class the speaker notes is where the detailed information should be written. Please see attached which lets you know where the speaker notes are located.

If you have any questions about your presentation please contact me. I would like each student to receive full points on the assignment.

PowerPoint should be professional and meet the needs of your audience

Do not make the slides too busy

Rule of thumb-no more than 5 bullets per slide

Be cognizant of the font size-the people in the back of the room must be able to see the slides

Be cognizant of the colors you select-you want to keep the audience attention

Feel free to use animation-creativity keeps the audience attention

Graphs are good visuals when you have a lot of detailed information to present in a short amount of time-make sure to cite using APA guidelines

Make sure your speaker notes are detailed and cover all aspects of the rubric

In-text citations must meet APA guidelines

Make sure all references are included on the reference page using the school requirement APA 6th edition format.
