The centres of the piers in a bridge are 8.0m apart. The piers are each 0.8m wide. Water flow under the bridge with an upstream depth and velocity of 4.0m and 4.0m/s respectively. The pier has a drag coefficient Cd = 1.5.
a) Determine the height and the velocity of the water downstream of the bridge.
b) Determine the energy head loss.
