Develop an Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device for use with phonetic awareness
and/or whole language skills. This device must be your original work and not commercialized picture
symbols or devices. This device should include multiple symbol examples. Do not submit a page of
downloaded symbols as your AAC device. You are to create a communication device which can be used
by students with communication problems. For example, you could take pictures of objects and organize
them in a flipchart based on a students needs/wants/feelings. Another example, picture
cards categorized into various letter blends. Do not limit this assignment, be as creative as possible. Be
sure to view various communication devices for ideas on how to develop your design.
