develop a campaign name, logo, outline (see example outline), and additional campaign materials to “bringyour campaign to life”

You will design a plan for a health communication campaign based on the prompt:

You have been hired by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity to develop a health communication campaign about obesity for the state of West Virginia. Your campaign should specifically address 1-3 of the Nutrition and Weight Status Objectives forwarded by the federal government initiative, Healthy People 2020. You must prepare a presentation for the CDC outlining the campaign you have developed, including a brief overview of the specific problem you have selected related to obesity in West Virginia (e.g., child obesity, nutrition), the theory you intend to use to design the campaign, and three materials relevant to your campaign. These materials may include, but are not limited to, samples of social and traditional media advertisements, brochures, surveys,  videos, in-person events, or calls for legal and/or policy reform. These materials must reflect the specific objectives you have selected. The presentation should be in either video format or (if you are unable to create a video), you can submit a powerpoint along with an audio recording of your presentation. The campaign should have a creative name, and all materials should appear professional and specific to West Virginians.

 Campaign Outline (35 points)

Using a theory discussed in your textbook, you will develop a THEORY-BASED campaign. Specifically, you will useyour knowledge about the key concepts of the theory and incorporate those concepts into your campaign messagingto increase the likelihood that your target audience will adopt your message.

The campaign outline should be a minimum of 1.5-2 FULL pages that describe the key components of yourcampaign’s implementation/dissemination and evaluation strategies.

Presentation— Video (65 points)

You will develop a campaign name, logo, outline (see example outline), and additional campaign materials to “bringyour campaign to life” that incorporate a  theory discussed in this class. Your presentation will center on what yourcampaign would look like and how you would “do” your campaign.

For this project you are required to give a presentation (3-5 minutes); however, since this is an online course, you will have to film yourself giving the presentation. The film will be of you speaking into the camera and giving the presentation, as you would to a class. This can be a simple, low quality video (i.e., taken from an iPhone). You do not have to edit this video—so if you stutter or say something wrong, don’t worry—leave it in there. This course focuses on health communication and it is not a video production course, so the bar is set lower in this area. If you don’t have a video recording device, you can go to the WVU library and use their technology.

  • The campaign topic is clearly addressed in the video presentation
  • The video presentation adequately and accurately incorporates theoretical concepts
  • The presentation is 3-7 minutes in length

**The most important submission requirement, however, includes recording and editing your work using programs that support the creation of MP4 files, which are universally supported.

You can also create a PowerPoint to accompany your presentation.
