Infromative Speech Paper

My subject will be about computer components like motherboard, hard drive…etc

Will talk little about the history leading up to the pc as a background for the intro and how with time it evolved

Informative Speech

Purpose: The primary objective of this informative speech is to inform or teach your audience about a topic of interest. You will get your opportunity to persuade your classmates in a later assignment You are to share information clearly with your audience so that they receive the information, understand it, and retain it

Objectives:

• Develop and deliver an original 4-6 minute informative speech using extemporaneous style of delivery
• Conduct appropriate research, using qualified sources to obtain supporting material for your speech
• Develop an appropriate organizational pattern for the body of the speech
• Develop an effective introduction and conclusion
• Use effective transitions to create a logical flow within the speech

Goals and Evaluation:

• Select a topic that you find interesting and that your audience will find interesting. If it seems that the audience may have general knowledge of the subject area, aim to teach them something new about the topic. It is also encouraged to think of new and different topics that the audience may not know about Otherwise, if you select a common topic, add a new twist to it Consider your own knowledge of the topic, but conduct research to find new, updated, and relevant supporting materials.

• Develop a specific purpose
• Cite your sources orally
• Use no more than FIVE notecards containing a delivery outline (please do not speak from sheets of paper. If necessary, cut paper into notecard size.
• Narrow the focus and purpose to a provide a reasonable substantive discussion
• You must use a minimum of FIVE credible and appropriate outside sources from THREE different types (magazines, newspapers, academic journals, books, websites, think tanks, or other media sources)
• Include a typed, 12-point font, full sentence preparation outline containing the speech’s specific purpose and central idea. Follow the format provided in class and in Chapter0 of your textbook
• Attach to the outline a reference list of at least FIVE references that is prepared using MLA or APA style.

Time Penalties:

1 second – 30 seconds over/under: – 5 maximum
31 seconds – 1-minute over/under: -10 maximum
1-minute, 1 second – 11/2-minute: -15 maximum
Over 11/2 minute: Speaker will be stopped and missing elements will receive no credit
