Use the following questions to guide your dialogue with your Learning Set:
• What is the context for the problem?
• Why is this a key issue? What implications are there for my current practice?
• How do the problem and its solution relate to organizational strategy?
• What are the consequences for not taking action?
• What do I need to understand more about through research?
• What assumptions am I or others making? How do these reflect a bias or my subjectivity?
• How will I review my findings from action and research? How will I review my learning?
• What questions arise from my problem, and how can the literature help me?
• What questions, if any, have I not yet considered?
• Consider the questions that were posed in this week’s media (animation). How did questions help the student arrive at a better problem statement or framework?
Use your problematisation to pose questions for research, learning and action. Discuss how you will search for possible sources of literature to inform your problematisation.
• Frame your identified workplace-based problem in the context of the relevant literature;
• Identify and analyse different viewpoints on your problem from the literature;
• Assess the capacity of research literature to address workplace-based problems;
• Critically evaluate research articles and the processes through which they are created and disseminated;
• Provide theoretical scaffolding for the problematizing process.
Address the following questions in your review document:
• Based on the literature, what commonly held assumptions exist within the field?
• Based on the literature, what areas of discourse, contention (if any), or divergent perspectives exist?
• Where would your research interests fall within this framework? Does your topic fill in a gap in the research? How does it relate to the existing literature you have found?
Consider how you initially defined the problem and how it might be redefined for future activity.
