9. Your project team currently has 14 members including yourself. Next week, two new contractors will come on board. How many communication channels do you have currently? How many will you have next week? By how many channels did your project grow with the addition of the two contractors?

If the product fails after testing, it will cost the company $15 million. Using a decision tree analysis, determine which scheme would be best for this project. Explain your answer.

11. You have just been appointed as the project manager of a major international project. As the new project manager, you have decided as your first project decision to visit all of the various job sites around the world working on your project. At one of these sites, the prime contractor working at that site invites you to her home. The home overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has a wonderful view of the entire area. She mentions that you could bring a significant other and stay in the home on vacation if you simply approve a number of change requests that the former project manager had not gotten to before he or she left the position. She said she needs these change requests approved as soon as possible so that the project can continue. What should your next actions be?

12. Your organization has a major financial project on the horizon. You are very adept at financial management, so you are assigned the project manager for this project even though you have no training in project management. Is there a project management term to describe this phenomenon, and is this organizational behavior conducive to a successful project?

16. Your project is progressing well in your estimation. Your team has collected the following data.  From this data, calculate the project’s ETC. Activity A is 60% complete at a cost so far of $50,000. It was estimated to cost $200,000 when finished. It is at the end of week three of five. Activity B is 85% complete at a cost so far of $150,000. It was estimated to cost $80,000 when finished. It is at the end of week four of five. Activity C is complete at a cost so far of $110,000. It was estimated to cost $100,000 when finished.
