Different countries view substance use and misuse differently; how substance use is viewed may dictate the policy responses of that country, despite what the available evidence suggests.
Your second assessment task requires you to compare policy responses to reducing substance use and harm. A good way to start this will be to get a sense of what approaches different countries have. You now know about Australia’s policy – have a look at some of the major countries in the world and their neigbours (for instance, look at the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico; countries within the European Union, etc) and look into their policies. Government websites and academic journals will be a good source of information.
