This diagram shows a food pyramid. The base of the pyramid contains the bread, cereal, rice and pasta group, of which it is recommended that we have 6 to 11 servings per day. The next highest level of the pyramid is split into two groups. The left half of this level is the vegetable group, of which it is recommended that we have 3 to 5 servings per day. The right half is the fruit group, of which it is recommended that we have 2 to 4 servings per day. The next highest level of the pyramid is also split into two groups. The left half of this level is the milk, yogurt, and cheese group, of which it is recommended that we have 2 to 3 servings per day. The right half is the meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nut group, of which it is recommended that we have 2 to 3 servings per day. The apex of the pyramid contains the fats, oils, and sweets group, of which it is recommended that we use sparingly.
